3.73 question Hey guys. I recently just replaced my broken rear end with another stock one that has Richmond 3.73's in it. I LOVE it in the low end, but my top end has suffered severely. The problem is, that at around 120, the car shifts to overdrive, and it falls on it's face. It pulls like a ***** until then. I figure that I am screwed out of my top end, and there is no way to deal with it, but I figured I'd get on here and ask you guys what you think. I also know that overdrive isn't a pulling gear, but DAMN, I figured it would at least pull a little bit.
It's a 2000 T/A with a 3400 vigilante, hooker long tubes, and the NOS 5177 kit. Automatic, of course.
Previous best 1/4 mile- 11.7 @ 122.5 (severely traction limited, stock tires)
Anyway, if you guys know of anything to improve my top end, short of putting the 2.73's back in, your help would be greatly appreciated.

What do shift points have to do with it??? I have a hypertech, and I already changed the speedo, and my shiftpoints are set +2 mph for every shift. Don't think I'm being a dick, but I'm wondering why you say to change the shift points.
if you want it to keep from falling on its face, you need more horsepower. i would leave the gears alone. unless you are going to race on the salt flats 
but if you like those 140 mph sprints you really need more mods. going by what you posted anyway. if you still dont like them put in 3.42's thats not a bad gear for an auto. alot better than 2.73's. hope that helps
