question on gears

i wanna swap gears in my 9 inch for my turbo setup and my question is my buddy has a 4wd 9 inch third member with 3.50 gears and id like to throw that on my detroit locker if possible? i can get these for cheap and installed for free thats the only reason i ask. not sure if theyd be weak

9" gears

the o.e.m. ford gears are very good gears, plus having 10 teeth on the pinion will give you substantial tooth contact area. so as long as they are set up correctly you should be fine. not to mention they used some badass steel back when those were made.
