Looking into a new diff Alrighty. I have a stock 3.08 diff right now, and I'm trying to get a set of 3.42's from a sale on here, and I was wondering what the process for changing gears is, if they'll fit, what tools/parts I'd need, etc. Or if I should just get the whole diff and install that.. I'm pretty much a noob when it comes to things like this... Sorry if it's already been asked.
All I know is that I'd need a tune after putting gears in... Why?
And if it matters, I have a 2000 Camaro 3.8L T5...

3.08 gears are 2 series for on a 2 series carrier.
3.42 ( if OEM ) are 3 series for a 3 series carrier,UNLESS they are an aftermarket brand of 3.42 made for a 2 series carrier (commonly referred to as 'thick' gearset.
