Any experience with Dealership Work Im going to get a new yoke and pinion seal put in and I want it done right without any leaks. Thinking about taking it to the dealer to get them to install it. They gave me a price of $130 seems good. My question is do the dealership guys do good work and do they warrenty there work. Any advice and opinions welcome.
In my opinion the rear end needs to be tore down, carrier removed, pinion removed. Then remove the old crush colar and the old seal. Install the new seal and crush colar then pinion. Tourqe the nut down until the right bearing preload is reached.
Some dealerships will just remove the yoke and put a new seal in then retighten the pinion nut, this is bad becasue the crush colar has already been crushed. My uncle had this happen to him on his dodge truck. He had a leaky pinion seal. Took it in they replaced the seal the wrong way. A few months later he had a bad pinion bearing.
