Turns out someone dropped the ball and didn't call like they were supposed to. Luckily the driver was cool and he waited around.

Personally I don't think these shipping costs are too bad - you gotta figure the cost of the driver's time, truck, fuel, etc. Just shipping a small package UPS is steep these days. As WILWAXU note above, you will be happy with the Strange setup - it comes on a pallet fully assembled, sealed, and with fluid. All you need to do is paint and install.
Thanks everyone, 'better response(s) than I had anticipated. You learn something new everyday. Now I wish the vendors & manufacturers would just be blunt and tell you what's up. It would have been digested much easier!

Fulton, I lived in King County...Bellevue, Redmond, Kent, Federal Way, and Renton. I miss is so badly, I would move back in a heartbeart. 'Wife won't.

P.S. Should I go with "fuschia" for my paint selection?!

The shipping charges are flexable.Same thing happened to me and a close friend on our Strange 12 bolts.

When they called me the bill was $150.I told them I was quoted under $100 and they could ship the rear back..In less than 5 seconds they gave me an updated quote of $95.They tried to charge my friend $250!!He used me as an excuse and they changed it to $100...

Don't trust the shipping companies!!!!!

Good info. Perhaps we can save a fellow techie from falling into some of these scenarios.

Shipping on my Moser was only $65 to my house. From IN to MO. It came via Old Dominion Freight. I thought that was a steal since I was expecting to pay $125 like you.

Haha they ripped you off. Most places double the shipping and take it as profit. For example where I work we get 73% off daylights book rate, but we charge the customer book rate and keep that 73%.

Gee thanks. I feel a whole lot better now....

And perhaps the reason the Moser is cheaper is because the Strange comes fully assembled with the axles in, giving it longer dimensions.

My Moser came in a refrigerator sized double pallet. Uhh, I don't think that's necessarily "cheaper".

My Moser was delivered to the dock at my work - while I wasn't there - freight collect. The freight company didn't call in advance... they just sent a bill to my work. Accounting got involved (this was a 7,000 employee company), was wondering what we were buying from this Engineering company without a purchase order.... Aye, caramba. Ever since then, no more boxes for me at work.

Well, I was just guessing....

Umm, these freight companies do not do a great job of calling you ahead of time. My delivery ran late and no one even bothered to call me. When I called them, only then did they say my 12 bolt was hung up. Luckily, my bud at the Chevy dealership covered my *** because he's "in" with the managment. Otherwise, we too would have raised some questions that could put my friend in trouble (doing jobs on the side for cash.)

A phone call is so much to ask of these days..
