Default HELP need pinion shaft

i am putting my 10 bolt back in the car i sold and realize i dont have the pinion shaft bolt. i have the retainer that holds it in but not the shaft itself. and the dealership only sells the whole pinion set for 1k bucks. i know i could buy a new differential for less than that but i just need one freakin bolt.

The only bolt on the pinion is part of the pinion gear. What exact bolt are you looking for? There are four bolts holding the carrier inplace, one nut inside the driveshaft yoke, and one pin/bolt for the axle retention in the center of the posi.

i need the bolt in the middle of the posi that keeps the axles from moving in too far and letting the c-clips fall off. but i got one from a junk yard but i think something is missing because one end is help by the retainer bolt but the other end flops around. what holds the other end?

I think you may have mis-matched parts. Can you snap us some pics?

just to clear this up, even though it was a long time ago, the part that i got was from a lt1 style rear and was different, i searched my garage and found the correct bolt. it had been so long since i swapped in the 12 bolt that i forgot what it looked like.
