realtime gear data this is a rearend gear question
its almost time to purchase my new fab 9
you guys running 350's, 383's, 406's motors with a4 trans and NO POWER ADDERS
what is your 1/4 mile trap rpm
please list you setup tire hieght, stall, rear GEAR, what gear your in when crossing 3rd or 4th.
I'm triing to decide wether I can run a 4.30 gear.
from what it looks like on my AFR monitor I'm trapping at 5600 rpm with 3.73 gears in third with 3000 stall @ 12.25/108mph with a 355 sbc, 27" tires
the car is 90% strip 10% street and when it sees the street never more then 55mph fuel is not a concern.
rpm calculator claims going to a 4.30 I would only go through 6000rpm. This sounds low to me.
some real numbers would be great to see.

where does the engine peak at? what's the rpm you'd like to be at? Most 23* head sbc's will want to turn 6500-7000 rpm, but without knowing where you need to be then gears are hard to calculate. heres a link to alot of calculators that should help you decide. http://www.wallaceracing.com/Calculators.htm

I believe it peaked at around 5800 when I had it on the dyno last. the cam claims 6200. I have shifted on accident at 6800 and 7000.
in a couple years I'm hoping to build a 383 or 427 sbc the will run 6500 to 7000
I'm just wondering if my 350 is going to be reving through the roof at the 1/8 mile not going anywhere and my et drops to 13's
I can change the cam to suit but the bottom end is still a stock 010 block
