Default ABS Backing Plate info/Used rear end purchase

If anyone is looking at buying a used rear end as I recently did and runs into an issue with the new rear end not coming with the ABS backing plate and E-brake system, get ready for a bit of work. I recently purchased a used 4 channel rear end without the plates and wasn't aware that the axles needed to be pulled before the backing plates could be removed/installed. I've searched this site for info on changing the plates and got nothing useful. I did go to the local Chevy dealership today but forgot to ask how much the backing plate/e-brake piece costs. I hope this post helps others going through the same repairs/modifications that I've been going through recently. Pulling the axles is pretty simple, especially when both rear ends are out of the car as was in my case. Writeups on these can be found by numerous members on here and Keliente has a nice writeup at changing rear gears that helped me with figuring out how to pull the axles. I have too much to write down as far as what was involved in my replacement but if you have any questions regarding a rear end swap on a 4 channel 10 bolt, please don't hesitate to ask. I just hope that this post helps others who have run into the same issues searching this site as I have. Oh and one other thing, if u think u can drive that new 4 channel without ABS for a short bit of time until u get another weekend to hook it up, think again. The brake caliper bracket screws into the backing plate. No back brakes is NOT a way to drive. lol.
