U-joint gurdles
here is some disturbing info...
installing billet girdles on my yoke
U-joint caps are 1.188" diameter (1350 U-joints)
the girdle installed on the yoke is 1.190 x 1.223" ID ( hardly round )
the yoke half depth .615" +
the girdle .613" +
girdle and yoke added (1.228") basically what I measured with the ID gauge
they told me " The spec on the 555-60600 appears to be the 1.188 and matches what you measured on the girdle. The yoke face will need machined down (approx.035”) until the proper 1.188 is obtained. This is very common to have to do when using these girdles on a 1350 style yoke, but we are sorry if it has caused an inconvenience. "
the idea of a fit with the majority of the u-joint resting in the girdle sounds like a very bad idea to me! I feel this will put most of the power through the cap and bolts. this is just unsafe and asking for problems
