Noob Backing plate ?

Sorry but I haven't got into the rear yet so this may be a dumb ? but, what are the backing plates and are they the same for LS and LT rears?

No, they are not, you will need the backing plates based on what brake system your using.

So what are the backing plates? and can you use the complete rear from An LT in an LS if they are both 3 series?

A LS rear in a LS car with LS Brakes are all good. If your putting a LS rear in a LT you need to change the plates unless your retaining the LT brakes.

I have a guy looking at my rear out of my 95, he has an LS car. just wanted to know if it would work. Thanks.

What exactly are the backing plates?

Kind of a harsh picture but it gives you an idea. Phone pics are not always the best pics.

That is what the backing plate and tin shield look like for the 98-02 cars. The 93-97 cars have the e-brake within the caliper and do not use a sheetmetal shield, just a steel caliper mount bracket.
