Rebuild or replace rear end...
I was going to post a poll but I'm guessing my limited posts keeps me restricted. Who has rebuilt their rear end using what differential, and what axels if different from stock? What use does it see? Track with slicks, track with drag radials? How many times a year does it go to the track.? Hard launches, manual, automatic, anthing else that might be pertinant to my decision to build or replace
Thanks
Thanks

I here ya on the do it once. I should also mention I have a Moser with a tru trac in my m6 lt1. Every one knows the t-56 is brutal on drive trains. Addtionally my thought is that as far as I know only the differential, axels, and gears go bad. So why wouldn't replacing those parts with the best components possible be the better answer?

I was in the same shoes a few months ago. I found myself planning to spend almost $800 to rebuild my 10 bolt and had to sit back and think about that. I decided to put that money into a center section and then a housing and axle package. I'm only missing the housing now which comes in a few weeks.. Although my car has been down almost 3 months, I definitely would have been kicking myself in the *** if I had spent almost half the money of a moser 9" on a 10bolt. If you need cheap rear repaired just buy a spare 10 bolt to get you by while you save for a better rear..

Your car is an automatic right? You could get away with the 10 bolt for a while. A buddy of mine was running low 7s in the 1/8th, 1.6 60fts with the stock 10 bolt and 4L60e for quite a while. Obviously if you have the cash I would get an aftermarket rear, 12 bolt will surfice for an auto.

Good info
This is the kind of info I need to convince me to go one way or the other. I hear allot of people saying "Just get a new rear" like its a fad. You are the first person to ever tell me that they broke a built rear end. Knowing that a built rear will break first time at the track is good info. What on the built rear broke?

The 02 Z28 is a 4l60e.
