Gears and pcm?

It might be a stupid question but here it goes.I have a 98 m6 and i would like to know if i put a 4.11 would it work best if i put a programmer to tell it that it has a 4.11 or it doesn't matter either way.And what can i use to fix the spedometer when i put the gear in.Any help will be greatlly appreciated.Thanks.

That's pretty much what you need to do. You can either throw a hypertech at it and change it or see if a shop can change it for you real quick. It would take about 30 minutes to suck out your program, change it and push it back in. Not a big deal at all. But you will need to do it to get your speedo and odometer to be accurate.

up thats the only way if you what the speedo correct. if not, you are going to be putting alot of miles on that car that it really does not have since your speedo will be faster.

So having a programmer wouldn't change the performance just recalibrate the speedometer.

Yes sir, that's correct. Or you could spend money to get a dyno tune and have them change it at that time. I'm not sure about the rest of your mods, but it's something you could consider.
