Default 3.90s or ?

A friend has a set of 3.90s for my car, m6...

Shes my daily driver, and Im on the highway quite a bit... yes I realize theres a post like this right there already, but my question is, what rpm will I be at in 6th doing 130kmh (75mph), and what would the top speed be?

Just trying to figure out if I should do it, I need the best gas mileage I can get, but I want my car to be quicker so I figure a $100 gear is easy.. I plan on a nitrous kit in the future too...

Also, theres 120,000 kms on my car, and Im wondering if 3.90s in the rear end would help stregthen it at all? I know theyre weak, so Im staying away from slicks... but would I be safe with 3.90s on slicks?

So yeah, rpm, and top speed? aha, thanks for any help guys.

http://www.f-body.org/gears/ to find out rpm and top speed

Can't help you with how much stronger than 4.10s 3.90s will be as I haven't gotten gears yet and I am having trouble deciding between the 2 aswell, although all my friends suggest 4.10s.

Yeah same, my buddy actually has the 2 for sale as well, and me and another friend are trying to figure out who wants what, but hes got an A4, and wants the 4.10s! lol... thanks for the link.

any input on whats better for it? Ran a 12.5 @ 116 with 3.42s, any ideas on what it may run with 3.90s or 4.10s?

Use the calculator to play with the rpms and mphs, since you have an aftermarket cam I don't know what your rpm limiter is set to...I believe you want to cross the 1/4 mile right before your rev limit in 4th, so you're in the meat of the power band as your crossing into 4th and don't lose MPH by shifting into 5th. Take what I say with a grain of salt because this is just what I've learned from watching my friends with cams/gears at the track.

according to the calculator, at the top of 4th, with a 6500rpm redline, I should be at 127mph, damn I wish that made sense for a 1/4mile pass! haha, 6000rpm redline is 117mph in 4th, which is basically exact mph I had on the pass... but this gear should make the car much quicker in the 1/4 so, lets hope 3.90s here I come! unless someone has any reason for me not too?
