Looking for a diff.....please help So I have a project I'm doing and I need a diff/rearend preferably diff, that is maximum 49" from hub to hub. I would like to keep it independent but a straight would work too. Looking for something that comes out of a narrow car that can hold 300 hp. I know a lot of ppl are going to tell me to narrow a 9" or something of that nature but I dont really want to narrow a rearend as to I am doing a somewhat of a budget build.
The reason it needs to be 49" or shorter is that my car is 61" wide and the wheels I want to run are 15x10 with 3.75" bs, when you do the math it is 48.5" but 49" is the widest I want.
If someone could suggest a car that has a narrow track that would be great to give me a place to start looking. I have a 70 Camaro rearend and it is 58" and a mustang is 57", 97 BMW M3 is 60". thats about all I have laying around my shop.
