Default Drive shaft won't spin

So, I'm in the beginning of an engine replacement on my 94 trans am. I have the whole car elevated. With the trans in neutral, wheels off the ground, e-brake disconnected at the calipers, why won't the DS spin? There's nothing touching it or physically blocking the DS visually. I've tried using a screwdriver in the joint to force it as well. I wouldn't think the rear end or the trans is locked up since I was able to drive the car. I mean, I guess it would be possible I suppose. Anyone else ever run into this issue before? Any help/info would be greatly appreciated.

I've also considered taking a piece from under the car off to reach one side of the clamp on the joint towards the rear end. I'm not sure what its called, But it pretty much is just a long piece of metal that blocks some access to the rear of the DS.

I don't what the issue is, but why not disconnect the drive shaft and see if you can rotate the pinion freely?

I'm removing an engine. I can't get disconnect the drive shaft because it won't rotate to reach the other set of bolts at the rear of it. I don't need to worry about the pinion.

Will it rotate if you try spinning the wheels like stated earlier?

I've not spun them in the same direction yet. I can only reach one at a time. I have to wait on a buddy to help. But hopefully that will work.

Get under the rear and use your feet/legs/arms/hands...

(assuming your car is safely supported on suitable jackstands)

I'm thinking whack the calipers with a mallet, maybe the pads are a little stuck including the ebrake. Otherwise and less likely, maybe spider gears?

This is crazy and I don't recommend it: wheels off the ground, no brakes, 1st gear, crank the enfin

OP if your pulling the engine and dropping it out the bottom why not just slide it all out so the yoke falls out of the output shaft?

I'd be worried about bending the drive shaft or something of that nature lol. This car has pretty much given me a crash course into working on a vehicle.

I'm not working tomorrow so I'll be able to play with it some more. Thanks for all the input everyone.
