Default 3 or 4 Series

Whats the difference between a 3 and 4 series Torsen unit? Can a Torsen out of a 3 series fit in a 4 series?

If you discussing/asking concerning 4th Gen F-bodies OEM rearend, there is no 4 series torsen. There is only 2 series issued with 2.73 & 3.08 gears and 3 series issued with 3.23 & 3.42 gears.
There is ABS braking that is 3 channel and ABS with Traction Control that is 4 channel.

Ok well my car did come with traction control. I grenaded my original rear end torsen. I was under the assumption there was a 4 series because the ABS is diff on a 3 and 4 channel rear end. I had to put a 3 channel 3.08 non posi rear in I got for free from my buddy to get me by and the car just lugs and feels powerless. Found a torsen from a 3 series the guy says for $100. So this will work correct?

From your post, you broke the Torsen in your 6speed 4 channel 3 series 3.42 geared rear and temporarily installed a complete 3 channel 2 series 3.08 non-posi rearend. The 3.08 rearend would have been from a V6. Now you want to acquire a used 3 series Torsen unit to rebuild your original rearend. If the replacement Torsen is a 3 series, and NOT a 2 series,It will work.
Parts from broken Torsens are sellable. The end cap,the 6 bolts holding that end cap,the paddle, the paddle screw are always in need as replacement parts are not available from Torsen.

What you said is exactly correct. I aquired the rear end from my buddy at the junk yard out of a v6 for free just to get me by until I could afford to do something else. The torsen is a complete unit. My gears inside mine all stripped out and broke the teeth off inside the torsen. The guy selling his torsen said his is in working order and nothing wrong with it.
