10 bolt help

I ran some buddy's on Saturday and I noticed like a humming noise on my rear end when I would let of the gas. So I stopped looked under the car see if I would see anything leaking or something cracked but nothing. After that I decide I better take the car home before I'm stranded so when I got home jacked up the car and took of the rear end cover to find my differential cracked. So my question is would it be easier if I just replaced it or get a whole new rear end

I'd buy a new/used center unit and have a competent mechanic swap it in.

Yea that's what I thought ill do how much do you think it will tun me also would it be a good time to change the gears.

get a quote first... You may be able to find a descent used complete rearend that you can swap in yourself at home.

From my experience when swapping center sections the gear mesh pattern/backlash doesn't change enough to worry about. Meaning it can really be a super easy swap. However, you would need to check it before and after and know how to make adjustments if it was needed.
