Default Rear Axle problem?

With the car up in the air, driveshaft disconnected, I noticed my rear wheels spin independent of each other. If I spin the LH rear, the RH doesn't move (and visa versa.)

I thought these Auburn rears were supposed to act like a posi-rear. (spin one tire one way, the other goes the other way.)

Is this a problem?

Taking off on a turn sometime causes the engine to rev high and it feels like the rear isn't grabbing (but it's done that since day one.)

Any help is much appreciated!

You don't have an Auburn carrier unless you changed it yourself. A 00 WS6 came stock with a Zexel-Torsen carrier and what you describe your car doing is normal. http://www.torsen.com/products/T-2.htm

If its an open rear, when you spin one tire the other will spin opposite rotation.
