Rear Differential is Growling
My rear dif is growling. Its an in and out low growl that increases and decreases with speed. I was told my a shop mechanic its my bearings going bad and to fix it is $800. But as a Marine in Jacksonville I figured he was trying to just take me for a ride and rob me. Ill post a video or sound clip of it soon to give a better idea of what I am trying to say. But it is similar to the sound of a semi driving next to you/passing by slowly that kind of growl.

"growling" is typically bearings. If it is only from one side its an axle bearing which is common. You may need to replace the axle too if it is worn, just the axle stuff is relatively cheap and relatively easy.
$800 isn't too bad for a full rebuild in my area anyway. Replacing all bearings is not easy, that price probably doesn't include axles if you need them...I would insist that the bearings be timken brand.
