Iv got a turbo 383 m6 that I just finished up last week. My current rear end gear in my 12 bolt is a 4.10, I love the gear for the street but not so much for track duties.. Iv look at going back to a 3.42 gear which a lot of turbo guys do, due to the fact you can stay in boost due to the longer gear. Im looking at changing my gears but I don't know which to get because I want have the ability to stay in boost longer but have good street drivability.. Would a 3.73 be a good alternative between the two?

one thing to consider as you decide... depending on your power level of course is where you expect the car to trap and then determine based on the trap and what height tire you plan on running what gear you plan to be in going through the traps , then make sure that gear is fully utilized not just shifting into it as you get to the traps , but not wrung out and on the limiter either.
I guess what I am saying is look at it backwards and kind of reverse engineer what gear is going to work best - having to shift just for the last 100 feet would not be good

I love the 4.10 for a good gear to have on the street and my old n/a motor, but the problem I run into is when driving and boost kicks im shifting shortly after. I want to stay in boost longer and trap in the 145 ish mph range when i run the 1/4 mile,

I understand what your are saying. with the 4.10 and a 28 inch slick ill be in the 130ish pmh range in 4th, with a 3.73 and the same tire 135-140 ish mph and a 3.42 and the same tire ill be 150+ in the quarter, I don't know how close or off those are. This is all on the 680 wheel hp I have now and using the 28 inch slick.
