Default Need some help real quick...

I'm trying to pull the axles out of the stock 10 bolt in my 97 Camaro. This is my 1st time pulling axles, so bear with me. The limited slip is not stock, not sure what kind it is.

I pulled the axles out of another stock 10 bolt that I have with the stock LSD. Small bolt, big pin, C clips, out they came.

This thing has me stumped. It's got a large block that I believe replaces the large pin. I removed the small bolt and now the block will slide to one direction like it wants to come out, but it gets hung up on the teeth of the gear. I'm out of ideas.

Any ideas? I just need to pull the axles so I can get the brake caliper brackets off and bolt them on my "new" stock axle that I'm swapping.

Thanks guy,
Steve

You can see the bolt backed out, and the block up against the teeth. It's only catching them by a MM or two. I believe once I remove that block I'll be able to get to the C clips to pull the axles. If you need any other pictures, let me know. I'm going to work on something else while I wait for an answer.

Also, any idea what kind of LSD that is?

from your other posts(found from your profile),those are 4.10s',right ? And being a 97(SS ?),Torsens weren't available until 1999. Is it a 97SS that SLP put an optional torsen in ? Torsens and 4.10s were never compatable in the fact that the 'paddle'(the block you're trying to remove) interfered with the ring gear. SLP offered a modified split paddle for 4.10 gears. Sometimes the stock paddle can be forced in past 4.10 gears and that looks to be your sitiuation. If it was forced in,it should be able to be forced out,but that block doesn't look right, like a torsen.

Here's the stock LSD that came apart with no problems. I'm sure you guys know what it looks like.

The car is a 97 SS. The stock LSD was replaced with this, and 4.10 gears. So, it was probably forced, that's great.

Here's the thing, I'm only doing this because I need the brake brackets off the axle. Nobody stocks them anymore. I'd rather just order a new set and call it done. Guess I need to go find a junkyard. They should be the same from a V6, right? Any year?

Thanks guys,
Steve

I ended up grounding the ring gear just enough to get the block out. So I bolted the brakes up and installed the wheels. I realized the brakes are dragging pretty badly. Here's what I found. Something isn't lining up, almost like the axles in the rear end I bought are too short by a 1/4".

It looks like I need washers on the lugs behind the rotor to make it like up...probably not a good idea.

I didn't swap axles from one rear end to another...even kept them on the same side.

Any ideas? I'm probably going to swap axles and see if that helps.

Never mind....just took them both apart...1/8" difference. I guess that's part of learning.
