fixing the clunking 10bolt???

fixing the clunking 10bolt??? want to fix my stock 10 bolt, not for drag racing, just for driving, it clunks real bad when first put into forward or reverse gear, I havent pulled it apart yet but does anybody know exactly what is wrong with it... I'm thinkin I crushed the spacers and or carrier bearing, hope there is nothing wrong with the housing itself, any info?, thanks
