Default 12 bolt gear

Guys have a f body with Moser 12 Bolt and 3.42 gear and a turbo 400 trans. Looking for input on rear gear upgrade car will be a drag car not see street time. We will be running mostly 1/8 th mile leaving off footbrake. Any insight would be helpful

how fast is your car? power adder? what size tire do you run? what do you shift the car at rpm wise, and what do you go through the traps at now?

Thee car is running 7:46@94 as it sits. No power adder car just has heads and cam. We are running a 28" MT pro radial and shifting the car at 6200 rpm so he can get into 3rd and look over to drive the top end when bracket racing. The issue with the current set up in the car reaction and leaving on a .500 pro tree when index racing.

if your on a 28" with a th400, a 3.90 or 4.10 would probably be ideal for you, but might not be good for you on driving around town

Thanks will not be driving around town so ill take a look at the 4:10. I was debating on going with a 4:30 since it is a track only car. Just concerned if we run 1/4 mile that would be turning too much rpm. Should not be an issue in the 1/8th

if its 90% a track car, i would go 4.30, then you may actually get to shift to 3rd! lol

but i warn you, your probably going to be 3500rpm+ trying to cruise down the highway at 65mph
