LS1 in 64 project
I'm new here and would like your expertise . I own a 1964 ss for almost 10 years now and I'm looking to swap the 327 engine with an LS1 from a 2004 caprice ss LTZ . I already changed the transmission to a GM 700 1990 . My concern is with the differential . I want to use a 1996 caprice SS differential . The stock diff will be swapped since its hard to find parts here . And by here I mean Saudi Arabia . Yes , I live In the middle of the desert an it's very hot . You can bake cookies by flipping them In the air . That's why my 327 impala engine has to retire . The new LS tech is what I need . My concern is the 1996 ss diff , will it handle the LS1 ( with headers and filters ) ? Should I swap the gears in the diff with something else ? The 1996 diff fits perfectly and I want to use it . Will it do ? I just need to drive the car no racing and flipping birds at people . Cruising while having a resting mind that my engine is not going to heat on me and that it can actually start any time anywhere .
I will try my best to answer your questions . But I took a look at the forums and the words and technicalities are beyond my intellectual dome ( my head ) . So treat me as a toddler in you world .
