Default Difference in Carrier between Series 2 and 3?

Bought 3.90 gears for my car and had them shipped to the shop for installation. They had a hard time getting it set up right, turns out I have a series 2 carrier in my car...

My question is, whats the difference between a series 2 and series 3 carrier? Strengths or weaknesses?

I ordered 2 series 3.73s instead and Summit is swapping out the ring and pinions for me, i just have to pay the difference in shipping.

That being said, 2 series carriers only came in A4 cars, and my Bird is an M6. Someone junkyard swapped my rear end didnt they? Also had 2.73s in it when they took the rear end apart.

Yes,evidently the internals are not original factory. M6 had only 3.42s' on a 3 series carrier.

Well, look at it this way: you're going to notice a HUGE difference going from 2.73's to 3.90's
