Default need help with rear end setup

got the pinion and ring gear on but have trouble with shimming the carrier. If i shim it right, but then tighten down the carrier bolts to the right specs the thing wont turn like the gear teeth are hitting the bottoms of the gears' teeth. What do i do?????

Did you just replace the carrier? You may have swapped the shims from left to right. You may have to get some different shims to get the backlash right.

I called jeg's and they dont even sell the carrier shims, just pinion. With the shims on the right sides the carrier wont spin by freehand when the carrier bolts are torqued down.

Make sure you didn't swap the caps from side to side and that they are pointed the right way.

Well, got the gears installed and took it for the 20 mile break in. On turns, including very slight ones, it clunks REAL bad. Im thinking differential like spider gears? It does it even worse in reverse and turning. HELP
