Default gear whine future damage??

after much research I am (assuming) that someone installed my gear incorrectly. At around 70-80 I hear a whine not super loud, but I hear it. if I let off the gas it will go away or once I pass 80-85 it will go away or low enough that I can't hear it anymore. I read that the backlash may be incorrect. Is this something I can do myself? Will this mess the gears up or leave me broke down somewhere ? Is this normal? I was told that 4.11 gears tend to whine that it was natural for higher gears. Just want to get the facts.

Higher gear ratio's tend to whine more than normal. When i had a professional shop install my 3.73's, I would still hear a slight whine at about 55-60... But its done that for 35k miles and still holds. I truely dont even hear it anymore as i am so used to it... and with the cam, and exhaust, its really hard to tell.
