Default Moser 7900FM ends

I have a chevy housing with moser 7900FM ends with LS1 brakes and roller bearings, and I put a set of 51098 inner seals and now the axles wont slide in all the way.

Yes the seal is in all the way.

I built this rear end last year and ran it for a year and I just pulled it apart for a gear swap and wanted to put new seals in.

What seals does everyone else put in? Moser seals?

I called them and they told me the 51098 seals are what they sell.

You didn't mention it but if you changed axle bearings the wedding ring may be slightly wider causing the issue.

Both axles same issue? What diff unit?

I just pressed on a new set of bearings last night for my Moser 12 bolt, and the wedding rings are larger than the ones that were on there. Now granted, I took out the 1/8" spacer because Im switching it from Lt1 to LS1 brakes, but Im hoping I don't have the same issue you are. Hopefully will find out tomorrow.

Yeah, Im having the same issue now. The rings are too wide and are contacting the seals, axles are sticking out about 1/8"... I am NOT a happy camper. This is the 2nd time Moser has sent me the wrong **** for this rear.

Ok, after a lot of reading, it seems depending on who you talk to at Moser, they say you can run without the inner seal as the bearing is a sealed unit. Well that might be well and true, but its not really the best option IMO.

I just picked up a set of NAPA 15142 rear axle seals and they are the correct ones (at least for me, 33 spline axles, big Ford ends). They are thinner than the Moser supplied seals, but still not thin enough to fit with the thicker wedding ring. So what I did was installed them backwards... It may not be 100% optimal, but installing them this way leaves PLENTY of clearance and should provide more than enough seal to get the job done... at least better than running no seal at all.
