Default Spline Count

My car is a driver, and sees some road race HPDE's. I'm more concerned about maximum side load protection as I'm not into drag .
I will stay N/A and auto with 500 rwhp. I think I can get away with 31 splines as my build philosophy is unsprung weight savings.
What would I sacrifice if I stepped up to 35 spline? Is there any data to quantify acceleration/deceleration differences, or is it a moot point?

The more splines, the less likely to strip the axles/break the axles. Typically the axle is slightly larger diameter which is why it hold up more. I would think you'll be fine with 31 in your application.

I believe I stated that. I'm asking for performance data between 31 & 35 splines. 35 splines gives me more diff options, but at what cost to rotational weight? Constant change environments of street & road race should be important - but how to quantify?

I like Strange's new website, but not everything is working. I'm assuming they have a 45* pressure angle and involute splines?

Since I'm on the drag side, the reasons for going bigger are completely different. Where you're looking at side loading we worry about brute strength. In your application I would be more concerned with the side load in the bearings than the splines and power production. The only real difference I see with your app would be the weight of the axle shaft (unsprung weight). For a 9", in your shoes, I would be going with an aluminum center, with lightened 31 spline axles. Considering Sprint Cup cars use 31 spline with a locker, I can only imagine that it would hold up in your car. Going to 35 spline would just add weight, due to it being unsprung.
