Default Another 10 bolt bites the dust >:(

So now I'm on my second 10bolt or was on my second 10 bolt. It went under normal driving situations shifting into 2nd under half throttle. This one was a rebuilt one when I got it. With 10k on the clock Posi and 4.11 gears. I put around 34k and it lasted 2 years. I'll probably save for a 9/12 bolt looking to spend under 2k. But this is my dd and I need to get to college and my job. So my question is I found two rears. One has 136k on it came out of an 1995 LT1 Auto with 3:23 gears for 200. Or two a 4.11 richmond geared posi with unknown mileage 300. I searched the forums and discovered that 3.23 gears put less strain on the rear? But with my current setup I could roast the tires easy from a second gear rolling punch with the 4.10s. Since I'm going to replace it should I just go for the cheaper stock rear?

OEM 3.23s' would be stronger than the 4.10s'.
Since it seems like you're eventually going to be a 9" or 12 bolt,what does it matter if you only have the 3.23s' for now ?
Since college and job are of utmost importance at this time,the 3.23s' will do.
3.23s'=stronger and save $100
4.10s'=weaker and spend an extra $100

This is good advice ^^^ and the fact the stock one with 136k has likely never been opened , I trust stock assembly line setup more than most rebuilds. And 410's have extremely small pinion and thin gears to fit that ratio on 7.5" case.

The other thing your not mentioning is 3 or 4 channel , you need to match with what you have currently , if you have a sensor in the center section you have 3 channel , if you have sensors at both backing plates instead its 4 channel when looking at rear ends.

Sorry I don't know what channel it is but I will check. But yeah I want a year or two out of the rear. No track appearances or much street racing. I'll try and curb my driving style not that I drive like an *** but is a trans am you can only hold out for so long lol. But I think I'm going with a 12 bolt from Brute Speed. I'm only looking to make 400-520 rwhp on a H/C/I supercharged application

Thanks Bob. I agree don't feel like beefing up a 10 bolt to still be worried about breaking something under a full bolt on M6.The article on your website convinced me not to waste anymore time. Im sure the 12 bolt will be a nice addition or if funds go well a 9". But within a year to maybe 5 months ill be upgrading before i do the cam swap. Which makes me mad but no since doing all that work and having the rear blow out with in a week lol
