When I changed my rear-end fluid. I bought 2 quarts of Red Line with a bottle of limited slip additive. Got it from Thunder Racing.

I believe the 98's had the Auburn posi. Do not put Redline in it if so. No syn. for the Auburns. ANY 80-90 gear oil will do fine + 2 bottles GMLSD additive.

inmyo1ta: You recommend using two bottles of gm additive? Can I ask why? Does it make it even quieter? Can it hurt anything? I just bought a rear with 4.10's in it and was going to change over to a TA cover and change the oil while I am at it. Thanks- Mike.

Default Rear Fluid

I also use two bottles of posi additive. If you don't, your rear will start getting posi grab at about 6500-7500 miles.
