Break in period for gears?
Hey all. I'm getting 3:42 rear gears put in my car and should have it back by Thursday. What is the proper break in for this? Do you drive so many miles and varying speeds or what? I wanna do them right....

For the first 100 miles, only do short trips (less than 25 miles to give those gears a chance to cool down). Keep the speed at under 60mph. Take it real easy with your right foot (yes it's hard I know ).
For the next 400 miles, you can go at any speed, any travel lenght. But continue to take it easy on the gas pedal (harder and harder ).
After those 500 miles, change your differential oil.
After that, you should be OK to

Wow I didn't realize there was such a long break in period! Guess I better find some trips to take. I want to take the car to the track on the following Wednesday next week. Guess I won't be racing anyone this Friday either! If by chance I "accidentally" get on in once or twice during that time, is it REALLY gonna hurt it much?
