Default 2001 ws6 automatic rear noises

Couple of rear noise issues, when I'm accelerating, I'm getting a whirling /whistling noise coming from the rear. Is this normal? It gets louder the more I accelerate, but as soon as I take my foot off the gas, it goes away. I don't believe it is electrical interference as it doesn't change the way my radio sounds. It has stock 3.23 gears.
Also besides that noise, it sound like something rough kind of grinding around the wheels while driving

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Sounds like it is time for a 10-bolt repair or update. The whine is most likely the ring and pinion and the crunching is the differential. I'd suggest pulling off the back cover and inspect it.

Ok, I pulled the differential cover off and removed the axles to check for bearing wear, no metal in the differential and no wear in the axles. The geared ring that the sensor reads has wear marks all the way around it on the side closest to the big main gear. Is that normal? What else do I need to check?

That is not normal and I'd see where the rubbing is coming from.

a pic of the wear marks would help.
