Default Drum brake to disc question

Hello and pardon the question but i have searched everywhere for an answer. i have a 1998 TA with a 3 channel,NON TCS 3.42 rear with disc brakes. I purchased a 1996 Camaro 10 bolt posi unit with 3.42's and drum brakes. What is required to convert the 1996 drum brake rear to the disc brake setup i currently have? Are the parts i need already on my current 98 rear end or do i need to buy other stuff? The reason for the swap is my current 10 bolt exploded and i got a good deal on this one with low miles. Thanks for any and all help!

You need to pull the axles on your current 10 bolt and take the backing plates off the axle housing. Then pull the axles on the new 10 bolt and remove the backing plates and install your ls1 backing plates, then all of your disk brake setup will install as normal.

Wow, it's not often that I encounter something significant about these cars of which I was completely unaware. I wouldn't have guessed that drum brakes would be available on any 4th gen with a 3.42 gear and a G80 posi (even at V6 level, wouldn't that have required the Y87 Performance Package?) I'm shocked that drums could be had in this configuration as late as '96.

Crazy. If this was a trivia question, I would have lost this round.
