Default Tach and Speedo not reading correct?????

I picked up a 98 Z28 about 2 weeks ago and finally registered it today(been busy) Car seems to ran fairly well but the Speedo and Tach are not reading correctly. The car does still have the stock 2.73 gears in it.

When I am doing about 40-45 mph the car says I am going 80-85 mph and the tach is around 3k Rpms but you can tell the car is only running around 1500 rpms

Any ideas?

Matt

First thing is to get it scanned, with a data logger like hp tuners, to see if the VSS counts are legit. If they are, it should drive fine and shift normal.

You issue is likely the needles need to be re-stuck to the correct positions. The scanner is also part of getting that right too, so you can verify rpm. Check speed on a gps and restick it where it's most accurate, provided that your sensor is good.

Thanks! The car does run and drive normal. It does seem like that could be the problem.
