Default 9” differential questions

Hi Guy,

i currently have a 9” with a 3.70 gear and a spool. Axles are 35 spline.

Ive called Midwest chassis and got a couple options. Just wanted to check in with real life users. My car will be around 600 rwhp. I drive the car on the street 90% of the time and maybe will track it a few times a year. It appears my options for a limited slip are S Trac, Truetrac and powergrip. Just want some opinions for the best for my application. I know the S Trac is warrantied for lifetime which is nice but might be overkill for my car?

Thanks for the advice

I have a S trac in my 9in no problems with it. Thought I wouldn’t mind the spool but hated driving the car with it. Got old super fast cruising around with the spool. I hear it’s not so bad with a auto. But the S trac works well for city driving an track use. Bought it because of the warranty.

i will always always recommend the s-trac. the fab 9 is overkill for 600 rwhp anyway right? but you only wanna build a rear one time im assuming thats why you are getting this fab 9 in the first place. spend the money on the strac. and forget about it. i also bought it because of the warranty. for a company to offer a warranty on a part they know could get the crap beat out of it says something.....

the trutrac is a completely different style of limited slip that has had a few issues in the past, but unsure if that was 9" or 10/12 bolt trutrac
