Built 10 bolt or save for 12 bolt diff?
How’s it going guys I recently came across my first car and it is a 2001 z28 camaro. I got it as a roller I’m currently swapping in my entire set up from my 1998 Obs Chevy Tahoe 4 door. Set up at the moment is a 6.2 with PRCs 260s, trunion kit, custom grind gpi cam 240/260 .646 intake .637 exhaust 110 LSA stock L92 intake for now. I have the holley hi ram brand new I haven’t installed but thinking of going with a C.I.D intake set up since the car is cable driven. The transmission I’ll be going with for now is a “built” 4L60e with a Circle D 5C 4500rpm stall converter. Now for the car I believe it has the 10 bolt differential. What are some good aftermarket rear ends you guys recommend for my set up? I just had a Eaton TruTrac on my tahoe and it held up fine with some 4.11s. My question is should I even bother putting a Eaton Posi unit and gears into this differential? Not sure what gears it has just know they are stock. I also have a th400 crossmember and drive shaft I got, since I do plan on switching to it in the near future, as well as some umi suspension parts. I got the umi adjustable panhard bar, umi adjustable lower control arms (lca) and umi adjustable chassis mounted torque arm. What rear end could I go with that I can still use these parts? I’m getting everything swapped and put into the car at the moment should be ready in about 2 weeks. This setup should put me around 560+rwhp so just worried the rear end won’t hold. I want to see what are some important things you guys recommend to upgrade as well as what gears you guys think I should go with? I personally was leaning towards 3.90s but I’m open to any suggestions thanks sorry about the long story lol!! What times should I be expecting in the 1/4? My personal best in my tahoe was a 11.96 @110mph 1.63 60 ft. On that run I was still on my 823 heads milled and on a 78mm throttle body!
