8.8 Diff Cover Question
I am looking for a diff cover depth that will be shorter than what I have currently, which is 4.5 inches. If anyone knows of a shorter depth girdle style cover please let me know?
Currently I am putting 500 HP and 492 ftlb torque to the wheels through a M6 transmission. The car is primarily used for Auto-x and Pro Solo type racing with occasional track days (road course). With this being said, would a standard stamped steel type diff cover be enough if I can't get a girdle sytle cover to work?
Thanks!
Stamped steel covers are very strong, an aluminum girdle cover is brittle and crack at the slightest impact.
I don't think the factories would be using the steel covers all these years if they thought they weren't strong enough.

I know the stamped steel will work, just wanted to have the extra protection of being able to apply pressure to the main bearing caps to keep everything in check. I just wasn't sure how much stress the axle caps see with the racing that I do.
