Rear end length
Rear end length Question for anyone who has a narrowed rear end in a 4th gen. I know you can cut it down 3 inch with no problem and keep stock suspension.
Can you narrow the rear any more then that and keep everything in the stock location. Was looking to go 3 1/2 to 4 inches. TIA

You will need different offset wheels. From the axle housing end to the LCA bracket is 5 3/4". So, you can shorten it 4" if you want. You have to get the wheel offset correct so it doesn't rub the inner fenderwell or anywhere else. Tire clearance to the LCA is important also. Most tires pooch out an inch past the wheel rim. I shortened mine 4 3/8" but I made a narrowed LCA bracket and moved the panhard bracket inboard about an inch. I will get a pic for you

Narrow LCA bracket for tubular arm
I am mini tubbing for this tire since the car will be lowered. The LCA dimension on this would be the same as if you got the offset LCA setup and get rid of the stock LCA. It is too wide. Or use a more narrow tire. I may be using a smaller tire also. This is a 8.8 Ford rear, but narrowing a stock rear would be the same, only easier.
