Swapping from 3.23’s to 3.90’s with an Eaton Trutrac on a 8.6 GM 10 bolt, first time setting up a rear end, I know this pattern does not look good, but what do you guys think will help? Has a whine all the time
Pinion sticking out too far, pull shims off pinion gear, and THEN, if necessary move carrier over to the RIGHT a little bit ?
I am NOT expert, having only set up a few ring n pinions, and got real lucky each time.

I figured out the problem, how does this pattern look? .006 backlash

Fill it with 75W-90 synthetic,and RUN it.
When I installed everything the first time, I installed a new pinion bearing that came with the gear set and I reused the old bearing races because they looked good still, turns out the new bearing is oversized and needed a bigger race in which I had to install, and after that everything was good
