So I have a 87 c10 that had 3.73 gears and i wanted to go to 4.11s so I bought some jegs brand gears and proceeded to try to set them up. I could never get what I thought was a acceptable pattern so I got it as close as I could put it together and went and drove it. Needless to say it made way to much noise. So I ripped it apart and changed my pinion depth and put it together and tried again. No go. Anyways long story short i could never get it to run quietly so i sent the gears back and bought a new set of 4.10s from revolution gear and axle. Yesterday I put the gears in and this is the first pattern I come up with. Now before you cook me in the comments I do have some actual gear paste arriving tomorrow. But Prussian blue is all I have for right now.
This is a 8.5 10 bolt rear end. Currently have my backlash set at .004. Pinion depth is the factory shim .028. This a 2cut gear set. And the recomended backlash specs are .004 to .007. Whats do you guys think? Im confused because it looks like the pattern is to deep towards the root yet it also looks like its to high on the tooth. Idk needless to say im alittle frustrated.
