Question about backlash..

Question about backlash.. I was under my car tonight and I took a measurement of my driveline play. I know this is not the typical backlash measurement, as that is taken with the diff. cover off. All I did was put my emergency brake on and rotate the driveshaft one way until it stopped. Then I put a mark on the rear end housing as well as the yoke (one straight line) and then rotated the driveshaft the other way until it stopped and then measured the distance between the two marks. I measured approx. 5/32" of -total- play. Does anyone happen to know if this is too much?? I am just curious, as when I had my 4.10's installed I immediately noticed more driveline play compared to when I had the stock 3.42's in.
I know this is a strange measurement, but I thought I would see if anybody else happened to know if my measurement in normal...

That is measuring the freeplay in the u-joint, pinion bearings, carrier bearings and the backlash. It's not accurate and won't tell you anything. I also think it's taking whatever the backlash reading is and is multiplying it by the gear ratio since it's on the other side of the pinion.

yeah, I realized that, just wondering if anybody has ever been bored enough to measure this useless measurement....just so I can get an idea of where my driveline play is compared to others...
