How to... Ford8.8 Whats all involved in making these rear ends? You need to take off the upper control arm thingys i know that, then mount a torque arm bracket. Cut off the old axle tubes and weld up your Fbody tubes. Anything im missing? All help is appreciated. I'd like to get a built rear end for 1250-1500. All the welding and labor will be done by my buddy who knows his **** when it comes to welding.

The torque arm bracket is the hardest part to get right. If you get it too hot when welding it up the center section will warp and you'll never be able to get a good consistent gear pattern. The axle tubes are easy, just cut the ends off of each one and have a machine shop cut down the F-body tubes so they'll fit inside of the Mustang ones and weld it on with a good thick bead.
For the amount of work involved though I don't see why people don't just buy a Moser housing with the torque arm bracket for $585 list price and build their own bullet proof 9". You can buy all the parts from Moser, new for around $2000 and not wait on anything. Or you can buy the axles and housing from them and find a junk yard, swap meet or otherwise used center section anywhere and possibly have a complete 9" for under $1000.
