Broke a 12 Bolt Moser
I went to the track and ran 3 runs, one spinning to 1.9 and two bogged to 2.1. After turning off the track (10 mph )at the end of third run, I notice a load clunck. I think I also heard it on the prior turn off as well but thought I ran over something. The car ran find straight so I drove it 80 miles home. I remove the cover today to fine metal laying in the bottom and 4 teeth broken off the driver side spider gear. I am running 315/35/17 Nittio's. I was launching between 2,500 and 3,500 RPM. I bought a 12 bolt so I would not brake the stocker. I am very surprised to break a 12 bolt. Have you heard of this being a problem with the 12 bolt? I haven't.
Should I just replace the spider gear set myself, and if so do I need to redail-in the Ring and pinion gears? Will I need to replace anything else? Or should I remove the rear and take it to the local drive line shop for repair.
What do you think?
