Third gen rear end question

Third gen rear end question Compared to the fourth gen stock rear, how does the stocker in the third gen hold up? Are they the same? Will they handle a little more abuse? I am putting an LS1/T56 combo into an 88 formula, and the formula still has the stocker in it, and I was wondering if I would have issues like I did in my 98 camaro. The ls1 is only pushing around 330HP at the wheels. What do you guys think?

based only on the assumptions that 3rd / 4th gen rears are swappable, and that 4th gen rears are a few inches wider than 3rd gens, you should, however your wheels will stick out 1.5-2" further on either side. Whether they will rub depends on how big the tires are, how low the car is, etc. Some other things to consider are driveshaft length, brakes & their connections..
