Default Need opinions!

What do you guys recommend using to seal the factory aluminum cover when you put it back on? Fixing to change my gear oil and want something that will seal it and not leak. Just trying to find out if there is anything special these require to have a good seal. Thanks in advance!

I used a new gasket and red RTV on my car before I sealed it up I used some brake clean and cleaned all surfaces well, put a bead all the way around and bolted it down... then to be safe I ran a bead on the outside between the cover and housing smothed it out with my finger works good...

I wish I knew the answer to this. I bought an aftermarket aluminum cover and used just red RTV with no gasket. It started leaking after a few months. Removed it, cleaned it well and used a gasket and RTV, started leaking after a few months. This is even after checking the torque on the bolts a few times after the installs. I'm assembling another 10 bolt and would like to know how to keep the cover from leaking.

There are rubber type reuseable gaskets out there, I think made br Ratech and a few others. They should seal up fine. Otherwise, try a heavier bead of RTV blue, and make sure to go around both sides of the bolt holes and let it set up good.
