Posi Question

Posi Question First off let me admit that I don't know much about rear ends.
Here's my situation:
I had a shop change my stock 10 bolt 3.23's to 3.73's. In the process they damaged, or incorrectly installed the pinion seal. This resulted in a bad leak. By the time I found it, the differential was basically empty. (I drove the car about 250 miles home from the shop and it took 2 full quarts to fill it back up)
I took it too a different shop to fix the seal, and to check for any other problems. He said it looked like the rest of the work that they did was done right, but that the posi was damaged, He said the breakaway was less than 100 ft lbs.
My questions are:
How bad of shape is my posi in, and do I risk further damage by driving the car the way it is?
What are the chances that the posi is damaged because it was run so low on fluid?
