there's a code on the drivers door like a gu4,5,or 6 . your car probably has 3.23's unless someone has changed them.

Damn it! I have gu2. Is that normal for a trans am? I thought I had 3.23s but i guess I have 2.73s. I really want at least 3.42s now. Will I see a big diffrence between 2.73s and 3.42s or 73s?

My car... back when it was stock had 2.73's and then i switched to 3.73's....
and now i spin 2500 rpm's @ 70mph.... drinks gas..... there is nothing wrong with 2.73's and a stall conveter..... you will be able to get out of the hole easier. I loved getting 28mpg @ 80 mph on the freeway..
Not anymore...... oh and i was a A4 before i swaped to a M6.

How much am I looking at to get it installed? At what price do I wave the bulshit flag to a shop? If I buy the gears online, will it save some money on the install? Thanks

if you want to just know size of what is in your car here you go.

RPM= MPH X GEAR RATIO X 336 / TIRS DIAMETER (IN)

Or you can call the dealer and give them your vin number. I did this test on my car and then called the dealer and the 95 Z28 camaro i have had 3.42's in it lucky me. that was stock from chevy.

In my town of Fresno CA it cost 900.00 dollars, and thats for everything. thats why i got the same gears. would do it my self but watched an ep on horse power channel and changed my mined. If they don't sit right or you dont buy a bigger cover. you will get noise and grinding. the gears will flex so make sure you get a new cover. Now I am looking at $1,125.00. that is for 4.10's. If you just go to 3.73's you should be fine with same cover.

That right there is a total waste..................... For that mch $$$ you are half way there to a 12 bolt ....... 4.10 gears are the weakest aftermarket gears in a 10 bolt......... alot of money to spend on something that can break with boltons and Nitto's on the street........ I know.... did it 2 times with bolt ons and 1 more time with the old SC setup..... thank god one of my close friends does it for me...all i ahve to do is buy him lunch..

Sorry he is right if your talking about 12 I was thinkin 10 bolt not 12 and yes you are right about the rear end blowin out we can thank GM for that. Give fords 8 and 9s with there 289 and us 7's with 350's. they thought a lot about performance putting these together. My friend has gone through 3 his SS is also putting 673 rwhp with an ATI procharger 18 lbs. Sorry about that guys.
