Default 409 Stroker, what gear?

I have a 6.0 Iron block with a stroker crank that displaces 409Ci. The motor has a ton of torque and I have traction problems already. I took the gears out today and much to my suuprise, there are 2:73's in it where I thought there would be either 3:23's or 3:42's. Now that I know what I have, I was wondering what I should do for gears. I have a set of 3:73's and 3:42's. What will would be the best?

Do you take the car to the track? What wheel/tire combo do you run? How many rpms?

I plan on taking it to the track every once in awhile. I still want it to be a street car where I can take on an a couple hour drive if needed. The motor will rev to 6400 will ease, I don't think I want to push it any further. Ive never had it on the dyno yet but I am guessing it is a lower RPM motor with the stroke. For tires I have 285/35/19 Pirelli sp sport 9000. If I do take it to the track I will be using a set of drag radials or slicks. Thanks

I would definitely go with 3.42's. The way I see it, this will mainly be your daily driver. Track is 2nd priority.

If traction is already an issue on the street, 3.73's will only make things worse. 19" wheels are not helping you either. Not enough sidewall to absorb the shock. 16" or 17" are better for traction.

And if you don't want to push it too high in the rpm's, then it's another plus for the 3.42's.

I went from 4.10's to 3.73's with my M6 and I'm really glad I did! I still have traction issues in 1st and 2nd, but at least I can use my 3rd now

Thanks for the input, I think I will go with the 3:42's. If it hooks up and I doubt it will under full throttle, I can always go to the 3:73.

with 4.10s and 28 inch slicks I dont even spin on the nitrous. these are only 28 x10 slicks mounted to the stock rims as well. 4.10s are not bad on the street plus it seems most street racing is from a roll now anyways plus you still wont have traction in 1st even with the 3.42s and drag radials. I vote 4.10s if not even a little bit higher.
