Is it my rear end? When I have the car in gear, there is no noise. When I take off from a stop, if I give it to much gas, it makes a grinding noise. Same thing when I shift if the rpm's dont fall fast enough.(I need an Idle air control) I can fell it in the shifter. To me it sounds like it is coming from the tranny, but my brother-in-law says its the rear end. It wouldnt suprise me from all the stories you guys tell about the weak-*** 10 bolts. The car has got almost 98k on it. I have only done very simple mods to it. Seems like it really showed up about the time I put the poly motor mounts in. Is there a write up on junk yarding rear ends for 98-02 TA's? TIA
Thanks! Those poly mounts probably transmit a lot more driveline vibration. That could be your whole problem. Search poly mounts in external engine and see what you find.
Also, check to see if your exhaust is touching the car somewhere. That can produce a strange grumbling noise.
